Voltage jives to Breaking Through

Exclusive: Voltage Pictures has added another title to its Cannes war chest, taking international rights to the coming-of-age dance film Breaking Through. Paradigm represents North America.

Step Up: All In writer John Swetnam, whose credits include Warner Bros summer release Into The Storm, will direct from his own screenplay and produces.

Breaking Through centres on Casey Wright, a 21-year-old small town girl with dreams of stardom and celebrity.

When she becomes an overnight sensation after a Hollywood talent scout spots her hip-hop dance videos online, Casey’s popularity takes off and she is forced to reassess what matters most in life.

Breaking Through is described as being in the vein of Step Up and Save The Last Dance and in the words of people close to the project, “bridges the gap between film, music, dance and the internet.”
