The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes takes over Road House remake starring Ufc champion Ronda Rousey

The long-awaited Road House remake has found a new director: Nick Cassavetes, who previously brought the world The Notebook, John Q and My Sister's Keeper.

He replaces Fast & Furious director Rob Cohen, who was originally attached to the project.

Ufc star Ronda Rousey is playing the role made famous by the late Patrick Swayze in MGM's revival, bouncing for notorious dive bar the Double Deuce.

Before you worry whether the man who helmed the notorious blub-fest The Notebook is the right person for the job, remember that he also wrote and directed the excellent Alpha Dog.

Sure, there was The Other Woman last year - 23% on Rotten Tomatoes - but let's just pretend that didn't happen.

The Road House remake has no confirmed release date, but is set to start shooting early next year.
