Upon learning the news that the streaming service is rebooting the beloved Canadian children’s book series from the 1890s into another TV show, fans simultaneously cheered and feared. Both Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Anne” novels and the 1980s miniseries adaptations are some of the most beloved Canadian exports ever (sorry not sorry, Justin Bieber). Much is at stake here, and Netflix, showrunner/writer Moira Walley-Beckett and director Niki Caro cannot, dare not mess this up.
