Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton says The New Mutants “going full-fledged horror”

Having originally been slated to open in theaters this weekend, we now still have some 16 months to wait before we get to see 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff The New Mutants.

Having been delayed twice, Fox has now taken the decision to “overhaul” the movie with up to 50% reshoots, reportedly inserting new characters, as well as ramping up the horror elements. And, according to Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton – who plays the character of Cannonball – Fox and director Josh Boone are looking to take the movie into “full-fledged horror” territory.

“It’s basically about these mutants in a facility for damaged mutants,” Heaton told EW. “It’s a story about these characters coming to grips with who they are and it’s a horror X-Men movie, which we haven’t seen before. I feel like, for an X-Men movie, yeah, I think they’re going full-fledged horror. Without saying
