There was no shortage of surprises when the 2018 Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday morning, including some shocking snubs: “Will and Grace” was left out of Best Comedy Series and all regular acting categories except Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Megan Mullally). We were also surprised by the absences of Al Pacino (“Paterno”), Alison Brie (“Glow”), Mandy Moore (“This is Us”) and many others. But when someone is unexpectedly left out of the Emmy lineup, that means someone we weren’t expecting made the cut. This year there were as many pleasant surprises as there were disappointments.
