Lionsgate has signed David Spitz to a new long-term deal as president of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, the studio announced on Thursday.
Spitz has worked at Lionsgate for nearly 20 years, starting in 1999 with the studio’s predecessor, Artisan. During this time, he has overseen the distribution of franchises like “Saw,” “The Hunger Games,” and “John Wick.” He has also handled distribution for Oscar winners like “La La Land,” “Crash,” and “Precious,” as well as the studio’s new specialty labels like Pantelion and Codeblack.
“David’s distribution leadership is a key element in guiding our business forward,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake. “He has great relationships with exhibitors, talent, and our studio partners, and a deep understanding of the right release dates and best distribution strategies for our movies. He will continue to be an integral part of our motion picture leadership team in the years ahead.”
