Christian Bale wouldn’t be the first person to win both male acting categories at the Oscars if he prevails in Best Actor for “Vice,” but he would be at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. No man has managed to sweep the lead and supporting races yet in the 24-year history of the awards show.
Since the SAG Awards is so young, it’s not that shocking that an actor hasn’t won both categories thus far. Lots of veteran stars never had a chance to be nominated for their work back in the day, and sometimes SAG voters produce interesting sets of nominees and winners. On the actress side, four people have won lead and supporting: Helen Mirren, Renee Zellweger, Cate Blanchett and Viola Davis.
