For visual effects supervisor Matt Johnson, working on “Mary Poppins Returns” felt as if “Disney had given you their crown jewel” to play with. Because the first film is such a “part of our childhoods,” not to mention “a milestone movie in visual effects,” he knew he was “standing on pretty big shoulders” when he accepted the gig.
