December 2018 closed out a record year at the domestic box office, and while it was only the fourth largest December of all-time, it was the first December in four years to not feature a new Star Wars release. Considering Star Wars: The Force Awakens accounted for as much as 50% of December 2015's grosses and The Last Jedi made up 39% of last year's record performance for the month, December 2018's $1.068 billion in calendar grosses is an impressive performance with Warner Bros.'s global sensation Aquaman leading the way.
