Alexandra Byrne (“Mary Queen of Scots”): Costume designer Byrne returned to the Oscar race with this historical drama about the conflict between Mary Stuart (Saoirse Ronan) and her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie). Byrne’s last film about the famed monarch, “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (2007), earned her a victory in this category.
