Congratulations to General Hospital alum Jaime Ray Newman (ex-Kristina), who took home an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film at the 91st Annual Academy Awards! Together with her husband, Guy Nattiv, she took to the stage to accept the award for their film, Skin, and was clearly over the moon. “We dedicate this to — oh my God! — to our five-month-old baby who’s sitting at home with my parents watching this,” she exclaimed, struggling to form sentences in her excitement. “We hope that you grow up in a world where these things don’t happen because people learn to love and accept each other.” Skin is a biographical drama written and directed by Nattiv that tells the racially-charged story of a little boy who watches as his father and his friends beat up an African-American man, and then later suffers horrific repercussions when the man and his friends take revenge on the racist father.
