ABC Names Warner Bros TV Alum Erin Wehrenberg Head of Comedy

Warner Bros. TV’s head of comedy development Erin Wehrenberg has been named Svp, Network Comedy for ABC Entertainment.

In this position, she will lead the comedy series development team and oversee the department’s day-to-day operations, including creatively supervising production of new comedy series for ABC and will report to ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke. She will arrive at ABC on March 25.

She replaces former head of comedy Jamila Hunter, who left in October to join Kenya Barris’ now-Netflix-based production company.

Wehrenberg was most recently senior vice president and head of comedy development at Warner Bros Television. In this role, which she held since 2009, the exec oversaw the development of ABC’s “Splitting Up Together” and “Suburgatory”; plus “Trial & Error,” “Two Broke Girls,” the reboot of “Murphy Brown”; the upcoming “Shrill,” starring Aidy Bryant; as well as the upcoming “Aj and the Queen,” starring RuPaul Charles.
