Rumour: Bohemian Rhapsody sequel in development

When a film grosses $875 million at the box office and picks up four Academy Awards including Best Actor, there’s a pretty good chance that the suits behind the movie are going to be falling over themselves to get the ball rolling on a sequel, and it seems that may be the case with last year’s Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Page Six is reporting that Rudi Dolezal, Queen’s frequent music video director, has revealed that a second movie is “being heavily discussed in the Queen family” and producer and band manager Jim Beach is “planning a sequel that starts with Live Aid.”

Queen’s story doesn’t end with Live Aid of course; the band would continue to record and release albums as well as embarking on 1986’s Magic Tour, Freddie Mercury’s last before his death in 1991 of AIDS-related complications. Queen would continue to perform with guest vocalists,
