“Over the years I’ve read a number of different versions of this script,” reveals “Deadwood: The Movie” director Daniel Minahan, “and every year, it never really came to fruition.” But perhaps this was precisely the right time for the long-awaited film that wraps up David Milch‘s celebrated western series, which ended its original three-season run on HBO back in 2006. “David managed to tap into what I feel is an emotional zeitgeist,” he believes.
