‘American Gods’ could earn 34 potential Emmy nominations for Odin, Thor and more mythic contenders

American Gods” returned this past spring for its second season after a two year absence and some turnover in front of and behind the camera (including the exit of showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green). Now it’s back in the Emmy race with the potential to receive up to 34 nominations. Scroll down to see what the Starz show submitted for consideration on this year’s ballot.

Gods” is based on a novel by the ever popular Neil Gaiman (who also wrote Amazon’s limited series contender “Good Omens” based on his own book). This Starz series follows Shadow Moon (Best Drama Actor hopeful Ricky Whittle), an ex-con recruited by Mr. Wednesday, aka Odin (fellow Best Drama Actor contender Ian McShane) in a war between ancient deities and modern gods like technology and media.
