Happy birthday on October 4 to Susan Sarandon! One of America’s busiest film performers — she has amassed nearly 100 screen credits over her 49-year film career — the Oscar winning actress has become equally at home on television in recent years, earning six Emmy nominations, including two for FX’s “Feud: Bette and Joan.” She has also has had a string of acclaimed performances on stage, most recently working opposite Geoffrey Rush on Broadway in the 2009 revival of “Exit the King.”

For her film work, Sarandon has become one of the most honored actresses of her generation. She has been nominated five times at the Oscars for Best Actress, winning for her performance as Sister Helen Prejean in 1995’s “Dead Man Walking.” She has also received seven Golden Globe nominations, as well as two nominations for the Screen Actors Guild (winning for “Dead Man Walking”) and two BAFTA nominations, resulting in a 1994 win for “The Client.
