‘Marriage Story’ is the 7th film to miss ensemble despite 3 individual SAG Awards nominations

“Marriage Story” was the only film to nab three individual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations on Wednesday — for leads Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, and supporting actress Laura Dern — but it was Mia in ensemble. The snub gives the Netflix drama the dubious honor of being the seventh film to miss the ensemble cut with at least three individual bids.

The ensemble category was added at the second SAG Awards ceremony. Since then, these are the only triple-nominee films to get paid dust in ensemble are:

1. “Jerry Maguire” (1996): actor (Tom Cruise), supporting actor (Cuba Gooding Jr. — winner), supporting actress (Renee Zellweger)

2. “As Good as It Gets” (1997): actor (Jack Nicholson — winner), actress (Helen Hunt — winner), supporting actor (Greg Kinnear)

3. “The Contender” (2000): actress (Joan Allen), two supporting actors (Jeff Bridges and Gary Oldman)

4. “Michael Clayton” (2007): actor (George Clooney), supporting actor (Tom Wilkinson), supporting actress (Tilda Swinton)
