LAPD Declares “Unlawful Assembly” Near Staples Center on Election Day

The Los Angeles Police Department broke up an Election Day gathering on Tuesday night near the Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center, calling it a “large and unruly crowd.”

Around 8 p.m. on Election Day the LAPD declared an unlawful assembly at Pico and Figueroa, across from the Los Angeles Convention Center, and ordered individuals there to disperse. “The area is now closed,” the department tweeted. No arrests have been made but many some individuals were detained at the scene, a representative for the LAPD tells The Hollywood Reporter.
