Oscars 2022: Best Supporting Actress Predictions and the state of the race

Sixty years ago, “West Side Story” star Rita Moreno made history as the first Hispanic actress to ever win an Oscar, taking home Best Supporting Actress for the musical at the 1962 Academy Awards ceremony. Sixty years later, could history repeat itself? It might have seemed a bit far-fetched even as early as Thanksgiving but thanks to the critical and industry response to Steven Spielberg‘s “West Side Story” remake, the possibility that Moreno becomes not just the oldest acting nominee in Oscars’ history, but also its oldest winner, is gaining some momentum.
