The Umbrella Academy’s season 3 finale left audiences with many questions, but it also might have hinted at a secret tragedy for Pogo. In The Umbrella Academy seasons 1 and 2, Pogo was loved by the Hargreeves siblings. He was one of the few adults that took their side and was an important and positive parental figure, helping the Umbrellas grow as people beyond just their powers. In many ways, Pogo was a better ally to the seven siblings than their adopted father, Reginald.

Pogo’s role was severely depleted in The Umbrella Academy season 3, where he only appeared in one episode. In season 3, episode 6, "Marigold," Pogo was shown to have left Reginald and had helped the Sparrow Academy drug their father. Pogo knew what Reginald was planning for his kids regarding the Hotel Oblivion and didn’t approve. It wasn’t clear if Pogo knew what would happen if Reginald succeeded in resetting the universe.
