OTTera, Blue Pictures launch Avaz streaming channel

Streaming technology firm OTTera has partnered with global film distributor Blue Pictures Entertainment to launch a new free, ad-supported streaming television (Fast) channel dedicated to premium Nollywood content.
The channel, called Avaz, involves Nigerian film director Joy Efe Odiete, who will work with OTTera and Blue Pictures to transform the channel into a premium destination for Nollywood films and TV shows. “Nollywood” is a portmanteau of “Nigeria” and “Hollywood.”
Avaz has already secured distribution on Vidaa TV’s Fast platform, Vidaa Channels, making the channel instantly available in South Africa and other markets. The Fast channel will also be available through Afroland TV, a streaming platform that offers Black cinema and TV shows in Africa.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Blue Pictures Entertainment and Joy Efe Odiete to bring Avaz to a global audience,” Stephen Hodge, the CEO of OTTera, said on Wednesday.
