Poll: Unauthorized Remakes, Adaptations, Sequels and Cash-Ins
These films range from well-known classics to bottom-of-the-barrel trash, but they all have one thing in common: they draw heavily and obviously from a previous work without the permission of that work's owner. Based on a leaked draft of "Rambo: First Blood Part II" and made without the permission of that film's writers Sylvester Stallone and James Cameron. However, because it was a relatively low budget production it actually came out first. -
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970)
Sequel to "Valley of the Dolls." After being sued by the author of the first film's source novel, MGM changed the names of the characters and added a disclaimer stating that it was not a sequel. -

Alien 2: On Earth (1980)

The Terminator (1984)
Noted sci-fi author Harlan Ellison claimed that it was based on an episode of "The Outer Limits" he had written and the studio gave him a cash settlement and added his name to the credits in later prints of the film. However, director James Cameron denies the allegations. -
