These are movie characters who are perpetual losers, because their life, their circumstances or simply their environment is keeping them down. Favorite Life Mulligan or Life Do-Over Movie

NATIONAL MULLIGAN DAY is celebrated annually on October 17th. Movies with a life mulligan themed plot share the same premise, but each is uniquely interesting and worth watching. The main characters in life mulligan themed movies are dissatisfied with their lives. However, they get the unique gift to see how things would be if their lives had turned out differently. Although the premise is the same, the paths and plot devices used to achieve the awakening and the actual life mulligan vary. In the end, they return to their original lives knowing the grass isn't always greener and are much happier for it. Favorite Film Based on an E.M. Forster Novel?

E.M. Forster was a British writer working in the early- to mid-1900s who specialized in stories of the hypocrisy of the class system. The five big-screen films made from his books were nominated for 29 Oscars, including three for Best Picture, and they won a total of eight. All five of those adaptations were released between 1984 and 1992. Forster began to be known for his novels being made into "Merchant-Ivory films", though only three of them were actually produced, written and directed by Merchant-Ivory.
