Best 'Picaresque' Movie
The picaresque novel is a literary genre that can be summed up as "fictional autobiography" (or fictionalized). It depicts the adventures of a hero (generally a sympathetic outsider) whose fate primarily depends on his own wits but also on various encounters and strikes of luck, sometimes bad. Told in first person, there's no real plot, rather a series of disconnected episodes since the 'picaro' can't maintain a social status or hold a job for a long time. There's little character development personality-wise, as the essence of the "picaro" is to remain a picaro, it's the world around him that changes and its depiction always carries an element of satire that makes the story captivating and relevant. All the following movies present at least some, if not all, diverse characteristics of the 'picaresque' genre. Which of the following 'picaresque' movies is your favorite? Saddest movie endings ...
The original word I was going to use was 'unhappy' but then I realized that it doesn't necessary take a pessimistic or dark ending to break your heart. Still, this is not a list of movies that end happily but those who never fail to make your eyes water before the ending credits start. Totally depressing, brutally shocking or emotionnally involving, with a thin or inexistent light of hope, which of these movies has, in your opinion, the saddest ending? Discuss here

Favourite Whacky Character
Some of the characters in these films are just unconventional or eccentric, others are stark raving mad. Which of them is your personal favourite? I had to list them by the films they feature in, because some of them have no character page or the character appears in several (sometimes very different) versions in multiple films. If there is more than one character from the same film, the film appears twice in the list, with different charactors (actors playing them) listed beside the film title.
