FYC, AFI - The Next Top 50 Villains
This is the first of a poll series whose purpose is to anticipate the inclusions in the next American Film Institute's Top 25, 50 or 100 lists. As you may know, many lists date back to the late 1990s and early 2000s and while the inclusions are satisfying, the absences severely date them. We will start with AFI's Top 50 villains aired on 2003 with Alonzo Harris from Training Day (2001) as the most recent character. So we'll consider movies from 2003 till today whose villains fit the AFI's criteria in terms of cultural impact: characters who have a made a mark on American society in matters of style and substance, and legacy: characters who elicit strong reactions across time, enriching America's film heritage while continuing to inspire contemporary artists and audiences. In the eventuality of a new AFI's Top 50 villains, which of these memorable post-2003 screen villains would be your top choice for an inclusion (as high as possible)? After voting, you might discuss the list here

When the Villain Wins an Oscar
When supporting characters are not that 'supporting' ... when the leads lead a selfish crusade in the name of greed, cruelty or a wicked vision of power ... or when the darkest sides of the human soul inspire powerful and unforgettable perforamances allowing the villain to have a final revenge... and take the Oscar home. Which of these oscar-winning performances as a real-life or fictional villain is your favorite? After voting, you may discuss the list here (PS: Vito Corleone isn't included not because he's a good guy but to call him a 'villain' in the film's narrative would make no sense, his son Michael was a villain in the second opus, although a tragic one)

Mysterious Movie Characters
Over the years, cinema has graced us with countless fascinating personalities with even more fascinating origins. For some characters, however, much of their allure stems from the fact that they have remained an enigma to us, mysterious characters whose pasts WE DEMAND TO LEARN MORE ABOUT. With many of them, we were either given their 'version' of their past or simply no backstory at all. Either way, we're left with questions. Which of these mysterious characters portrayed in film, and their surely fascinating pasts, would you be eager to learn more about? (Please note: In order to be eligible for this list, these characters must have a past, whether it being their childhood or background, that hasn't truly been explained in the films they have featured in and thus remain a general mystery to us.) After voting, you may discuss the poll here.
Vilest Best Picture Villain
This is a continuation to the previous Most Inspiring Best Picture Hero poll. Indeed, as indispensable as the heroic figure is for a Best Picture, it can't do without a proper enemy to defeat, a memorable incarnation of the darkest sides of human nature to triumph over, or at least try ... although some of the following villains happen to be the main protagonists and often the first victims of their own vileness. So, which of these villains from Best Picture Winners, do you think, is the least redeemable or the closest to your PERSONAL definition of the word 'monster'? In other words, which one did you want to strangle with your own hands or scared you so much you didn't even dare to think about it? After voting, you might discuss the list here
