Seminal Films for Baby Boomers
If you happen to have been born between 1946 and 1964 or thereabouts (and if not, you'll just have to pretend :-) ), then you should recall many if not all of these films. Which title do you recall most fondly? Which film perhaps even influenced you in some way in a time when social values, political views, music taste, sexual prejudices, drug use, race relations, respect for state authority, women's rights and so many other entrenched views were being questioned without quite knowing what this would lead to. Limiting the list: To keep this list faintly manageable, it ranges from the early sixties which saw the first boomers in their teens (so no Rebel Without a Cause (1955) or West Side Story (1961)), to the mid seventies before subject matter turned to mid-life crisis (Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), The Big Chill (1983), Field of Dreams (1989)) and post Vietnam coping (Apocalypse Now (1979), Coming Home (1978), The Deer Hunter (1978)). Best Nostalgic Film
"Yesterday... all my troubles seemed so far away... With the sad passing of Gloria Katz, writer of American Graffiti (1973) and the release of Alfonso Cuarón's much anticipated Roma (2018), an autobiographical film based on his childhood in Mexico City, let's have a look on all these times of happiness and/or melancholy where nostalgia was brought to the silver screen. The following fictionalized autobiographies, coming-of-age stories or lighthearted dramas may not all be based on the director's or a writer's early years... but they all have one thing in common: they convey a warm, sad, dreamy or bittersweet feeling of nostalgia either from the narrative or the way the characters (no gangsters included) reminisce about their sweet old memories. And the nostalgia can be so powerful that viewers might feel nostalgic about times or places they didn't even know. Which of these nostalgic films is your favorite? After voting, you might discuss the list here

Watch, Rinse, and Repeat
There are those movies that we all love so dearly that we inevitably are compelled by some unknown force that uncontrollably makes us watch them over and over. Some are from our childhoods. Some we watch after having our hearts broken for the umpteenth time. Others just awaken us with awe and wonder at what might be. These movies we watch again and again to remind of us what we were and dreams yet to be fulfilled. What is the movie you re-watch that makes you forget about your own troubles in life, and brings back that feeling you had in an earlier time, and re-freshens your soul? After voting, please discuss here. The titles in this list are loosely based off of this article, Top 50 Most-Watched Movies of All Time.
