In Japanese, sentai is a military unit and may be literally translated as "fighting squadron" or "task force". Super Sentai shows are of the tokusatsu genre, featuring live action characters, colorful special effects and are primarily aimed at children. It is a group of three or more costumed superheroes who often pilot fictional mecha/robotic vehicles to fight the monster of the week. The protagonists work as a team and transform into superheroes and gain superpowers to battle a gang of otherworldly supervillains that threaten to take over the Earth.
