The Ultimate AFI Poll

As most IMDb users and movie fans already know, the American Film Institute came up with several thematic lists ranking classic American movies in such categories as thrills, laughs, passions, iconic quotes, screen-characters (heroes and villains), songs and scores. At the end, 11 significant lists were made (we won't count the Top 50 movie stars because it doesn't feature any movie title, nor the Top 100 Movies from 1998 since it's been updated in 2007) Out of these 11 lists, only 12 American classics had the privilege to be listed in at least 6 of them. Which one, in your opinion, best defines American Cinema, or, if you had to pick one of them to show how great American Cinema is, which one would you pick? Non Best Picture Nominees from AFI's Best Pictures

Out of the 100 all-time greatest American movies according to the American Film Institute, only 24 were not nominated for the Best Picture Oscar despite the fact that they were eligible and had gained iconic status shortly after their release. Assuming that most of these movies deserved at least a Best Picture nod, which one, would you say, should have actually won the Oscar?
