Back to the Future (1985)
TheMovieSmith: "When I first saw BTTF, I thought it was the coolest movie I had ever seen and was a large part of why I fell in love with movies."
Before Sunrise (1995)
pbn: "A youthful and free-spirited romance that propelled fantasies of future adventures."
Hoekkie: "I was impressed by the strong and tough Schwarzenegger. And I loved his quotes since the first time I heard them. I could see this movie over and over."
leavey-2: "When I was 12 years old, I was in love with Olivia Newton-John."
Kirk-Picard: "It mesmerized me at a young age with its beautiful visuals, powerful direction and one of the best lead performance in a blockbuster rivaling Sigourney Weaver's portrayal in the Alien franchise."
Into the Wild (2007)
KhaledKalache: "I watched it when I was a teenager and this biography movie introduce to you a new way of life many people touched by it, i still remember how I felt that time when I watched it and I get glimpse of that feeling anytime I watch an epic and touching movie."
albstein: "I empathized with Kevin Spacey's character: He is either a man protecting himself from the world by assuming the role of an alien, or an actual alien who is sorry for the way humans live and wants to make a change. Spacey and Jeff Bridges first made me interested in what makes a good actor."
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
NDbportmanfan: "This movie never gets old, no matter how many times I watch it. The comedic duo of Pegg and Frost have me laughing every time. I also love the pacing and the whole premise. Shaun of the Dead is first on the list to watch every Halloween season."
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
Arthur_Lemming_of_the_BDA: "It's just entertaining and I never get bored by it. Awesome."
The Great Escape (1963)
jalapenoman: "I became fascinated by the story and started collecting and reading every book I could find on WWII POW camps and escape stories."
12 Monkeys (1995)
borimor: "I loved the smart combination between psychology and science fiction."
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
TsarStepan: "This brilliant fusion of animation and live action film/slapstick comedy and hardboiled detective film became an instant classic on its initial theatrical release."
rubyfruit76: "I loved the quirkiness that I had never seen in cinema before, as well as its intelligence, great imaginative writing, and precise and emotive acting, including by an unrecognizable Robert De Niro. It was probably the first time I saw a dystopian world on screen; it was the first time I had seen an alternative to movies made to be blockbusters. It opened up a whole new world to me."
Kelly's Heroes (1970)
expectmiracles: "The music from The Mike Curb Congregation causes one to sing-a-long. The movie made one laugh especially Oddball's line, "I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know." And, the action to achieve the goal, rather gold, and the cooperation from the tank commander is priceless. This movie is just put together beautifully!"
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
pere-25366: The movie that really resonated with me early on was The Shawshank Redemption (1994). People always wonder why it has the #1 spot on IMDb Top 250. I think the way the story is able to so seamlessly encompass friendship, hardship, hope and resilience is second-to-none. It provides the type of magic you go to the movies for; to escape into another world and to really immerse yourself into the setting presented to you. Shawshank does this so well and has the power to really inspire.
Dibyayan_Chakravorty: "I was just 6 years old when I watched this movie for the first time. The epicness and emotional story of the film created a strong effect on my mind. I cried at the movie theater that day and everytime I watched the movie in my life after that. This is still my all-time favorite movie."
