The Hawkeye State Movies

The Hawkeye State is the official nickname of Iowa. Adopted early in the state's history, Iowa's nickname is "The Hawkeye State" as a tribute to chief Black Hawk, leader of the native American Sauk tribe, who relocated to Iowa after unsuccessful fighting of settlers (source: statesymbolsusa.org). Iowa became the 29th state of the United States of America in 1846. These movies have a connection with Iowa. They are (partially) filmed there or it's a topic in the story. Which movie (or movie poster) do you associate the most with Iowa? You may discuss the poll here Click here to vote for other States of America

Classic Movie "Arc" Quotes

What's an arc quote? Well, what an arc quote is NOT is a catchphrase or a signature quote. "What's the Matrix?" "Who's Keyser Soze?" These are arc quotes. Arc quotes are generally repeated lines that work as leitmotifs to the main theme of the film, the plot mystery or the lead character's Aesopian arc. They often have an enigmatic value whose resolution comes at the end, or they can define the whole narrative or the hero's journey by gaining either more or a whole new significance by the end (in most cases, they're not delivered by the main protagonists). On the basis of this lengthy but (I hope) insightful presentation, here comes the question: which of these arc quotes would you say is the most classic? After voting, you may discuss the list here

Quotable Fantasy Classics

Most fantasy films are remembered for the splendor of their special effects, their heart-pounding action sequences, the enchantment they provide for children from 6 to 60 or the durability of a saga that made the audience grow with the characters. These standalone fantasy classics are as enduring as any "franchise" (trilogies and beyond) but it's fair to say that what makes them so memorable is how damn quotable they are. Which of these fantasy classics would you say is the most quotable? After voting, you might discuss the list here (trilogies or franchises aren't included because they're not quotable but because it would be either unfair to put them in the same balance of judgment with stories that have only "one" cinematic offering or difficult to pick which opus of the saga is the most quotable to be considered the right representative)
