Oscar's Women of Comedy
Dramas tend to be nominated by the Academy more often and win more Oscars than comedies. However, acting categories tend to be levelers more so than other major prizes, such as Best Picture. This year illustrates that point well as eight of the twenty acting nominees were nominated for their portrayals in comedies. Nonetheless, performances in comedies still receive fewer Oscar wins than performances in dramas: For example, as of March 9, 2024, only 34 actresses have won the coveted statue for only 35 roles in comedies -- and that's including both Leading and Supporting roles. Of these 35 performances, from 1934 through 2022, which is your favorite? Please feel free to discuss here. (Also see inclusion criteria there.) (Note: Actors are listed in alphabetical order by last name.)

Oscar Doesn't Always Speak English
This year, for the 2019 Academy Awards, two actors (Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira, both from 'Roma') were nominated for their performances, in which they speak languages other than English. This has happened 35 times before and eight of those actors won, suggesting that Oscar might be multilingual after all. Of these seven winning performances, which one do you think was most deserving of the Oscar? Discuss here in any language.
