The movies that are as good as the original books?
We all know some great movies are made from the books (or stories), but do we know are they so great in terms of the sources from which they were adapted? So, vote here for the movie that you think translated the best the intentions of the author of the original work. I chose book adaptations that have IMDB rating higher than 8, but you are free to suggest new movies that you think were as great as the books themselves. Discuss the list and add your suggestions here! P.S. The poll is sorted in alphabetical order, so not to make any movie "better" than the other. This would be simply your opinion on what do you think was really well adapted book or story.

The Last Frontier Movies
The Last Frontier is the official nickname of Alaska. Alaska is thought of as "America's Last Frontier" because of its distance from the lower 49 states and because of its rugged landscape and climate. This remote and rugged perception is evidenced by the fact that only about 1/3 of the state has been organized into political units; 13 boroughs (similar to counties) are defined (source: netstate.com). Alaska became the 49th state of the United States of America in 1959. These movies have a connection with Alaska. They are (partially) filmed there or it's a topic in the story. Which movie (or movie poster) do you associate the most with Alaska? You may discuss the poll here Click here to vote for other States of America
IMDb Poll Board's Movie Playlists
A song can either capture the mood and spirit of the film with nothing but simple words and a catchy melody or magically transcend the limits of its narrative. And sometimes it can do without the pretension of meaningfulness and be just one of the best things about the film... if not the best. IMDb Poll Board members have been asked to come up with their 10 favorite movie songs, the choice wasn't easy but the result is an interesting set of 20 movie playlists (songs, not scores or themes) and we're asking you: Which playlist comes the closest to what would be *your* personal choice? After voting, you may discuss the list here
