When The Girl from Ipanema Passes Everyone Goes "Aah"
"The Girl from Ipanema" (composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes) is presumably the second most recorded pop song in the world, according to Wikipedia, second only to "Yesterday" by The Beatles. (external link) It is easily mistaken for another popular song, "Brazil" (Aquarela do Brasil), by Ary Barroso. In conformity with the Internet Movie Database, here follows some films having the tune "The Girl From Ipanema" in their soundtracks (being whistled, elevator music, generic background music). TV cartoons and TV series were excluded. Which is your favorite movie in this list? (chronological order) Discuss Here in the IMDb Community Forums

Breaking the Fourth Wall
Imagine you’re sitting in a theater. There are three walls that surround the stage: on the left, on the right, and in the back. Between the audience and the stage exists this imaginary fourth wall, which separates the real world from the fictional world of the stage. So when a film breaks the fourth wall, that means the line has been crossed, there is no longer a boundary between what is real and what is fiction. The spectator is now taken out of the film world - they are purposely being made aware that they are watching a movie. What are some of the ways that a filmmaker breaks the fourth wall? The most common device is when a character turns to the camera and directly addresses the spectator. A film can also be meta, which means it is referencing itself. For example, a film within a film about filmmaking is another way to break the fourth wall. Which of the following movies that break the fourth wall did you like the most? After voting, discuss here.

Best Musical Performance by an Actor in a Film?
You may have seen the musical performances in the films below, but did you know that the actors were actually singing and playing instruments themselves? Some already had some musical chops and got to show them off onscreen; other actors actually learned their musical skills in a relatively short time for a particular film. Of the actors below, which do you think gave the best musical performance onscreen? (Note: Because so many actors either sing or play an instrument in a movie, only actors who both sing and play an instrument are included in this poll. Also, no actors who are primarily known as musical artists are included.) Discuss or applaud here.

Seattle on the Silver Screen
Summer 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of Nora Ephron's beloved rom-com Sleepless in Seattle (1993). While Seattle may be known for coffee, grunge music and throwing fish, there have also been a few films set there (though they aren't always filmed in Seattle). It's curious that despite it being a major US city, far less films have been made/set there than, say, Boston or Nashville or other cities of comparable or smaller size. Which of these films which were set AND filmed in Seattle is your favorite? Want to talk about it? Click here! * minimum 6.0 stars, 1,000 votes on IMDb
