Gattaca (1997)
The Twelve Fingered Pianist from Gattaca (1997) The piece played by the twelve-fingered pianist is based on Impromptu in G Flat Major, Op. 90, No. 3. by Franz Schubert (1797-1828). However, the creators did a beautiful job embellishing the piece with additional notes/harmonies so that "it can only be played with twelve fingers", as the Uma Thurman character notes. You can listen to the symphony here
Maïwenn in The Fifth Element (1997)
Diva Plavalaguna's performance in The Fifth Element (1997) Diva Plavalaguna, performed by Albanian singer, Inva Mula sings "Il dolce suono," an aria from the opera Lucia de Lammermoor. It is one of the most difficult arias because of its length, its soaring arpeggios, and the high F above high C. Her voice when speaking is musical and ethereal, unlike any human voice, overlain so that it seems that there are two voices speaking at the same time. This implies that her vocal cords may pass air to create a voice in two different places, creating the illusion of two voices, or perhaps even the possession of two complete sets of vocal cords, supporting her incredible range and vocal abilities. Her singing voice, which she uses to perform opera, is a highly flexible soprano that ranges from almost a high alto register all the way up into coloratura. The operatic feats heard during her vocal performance in the film is physically impossible for humans, supporting her fame and rarity. You can listen to her singing here
