The Lone Star State Movies
The Lone Star State is the official nickname of Texas. The exact origins of this colorful phrase, and the use of a single, white, five-pointed star to represent Texas, are unclear; some accounts trace it to a flag carried by the James Long Expedition in 1819, an early attempt to free Texas from the Spanish empire, while a recent discovery of coins that were minted in what is now San Antonio, showing a five-pointed star on one side and the year 1817 on the other, suggest that the star was already in use as a symbol for the region (source: statesymbolsusa.org). Texas became the 28th state of the United States of America in 1845. These movies have a connection with Texas. They are (partially) filmed there or it's a topic in the story. Worst Reboot of the 21st Century?
Our current century has seen the distressing, unstoppable rise of the reboot in both film and television. Movie studios made this term popular as a way of distancing themselves from the stigma of creating "remakes" by instead presenting stories about familiar characters but with rewritten origins. Ironically, this trend has arguably become even more irritating than traditional remakes over the past two decades. That being said, which of these attempted do-overs has sat the worst with you?
