On the other hand, European and Asian films gained attraction unknown during the previous three decades - the French and Italian Waves inspired the generation of New Hollywood that would radically change American cinema in the 1970s, and Japanese and Italian action films had a huge impact on American genre movies. British Kitchen Sink dramas portrayed everyday life in a realistic way which Hollywood in its artificiliaty couldn't achieve.
