During the 1960s, American movies were in a crisis. TV was said to tempt away the audience from cinemas, and critics lamented a lack of creativity in Hollywood. On the other hand, European and Asian films gained attraction unknown during the previous three decades - the French and Italian Waves inspired the generation of New Hollywood that would radically change American cinema in the 1970s, and Japanese and Italian action films had a huge impact on American genre movies. British Kitchen Sink dramas portrayed everyday life in a realistic way which Hollywood in its artificiliaty couldn't achieve. Ennio Morricone, who is considered one of the world's greatest and most influential composers of all time, a legend whose work has reached far beyond the scorched desert-scapes of Spaghetti Westerns, died at the age of 91 on July 6, 2020.
