Memorable One-Scene Characters
One scene, one single scene can be enough for a character to leave a huge impact on the viewers*, even become one of the most memorable and enjoyable aspects of the film, even earn the actor an Oscar nomination... and in some exceptional cases, a win. So, which of these one-scene movie characters was, given the short amount of screen time AND the intensity of the performance, the most memorable? After voting, you might discuss the list here *some of them managed to sneak into one little scene (or two) but they hardly spoke in them and whether a scene or a 'sequence', they're all known for one moment of the film, little in time but big in the impact.
Improvising is the... uh... the best!
A script gives an actor/actress a certain eloquence but sometimes it's that spur of the moment, gut instinct feeling, that moment when they are so into character, that the true magic comes out of their mouths. In order to qualify, these lines must have either been ad-libbed by the actor on screen or changed from how it was originally written in the script. I have chosen not to include lines/moments delivered by Brando, as so much of his dialogue was ad-libbed that perhaps he merits a list of his own. In your opinion, which improvised moment in film by an actor has resonated most with you over the years? After voting, you may discuss your unscripted thoughts here.
True American Movie Icons
Celebrating the 4th of July, here's a list of characters who represented a little more than the heroic side of their respective movies; they became symbols of what generally make American heroes shine in and beyond the national borders: idealism, persistence, coolness, bravery and a little je-ne-sais-quoi that make us (foreigners) wish for a while that we could belong to the same place. Which of these American Icons is your number one pick? After voting, you might discuss the list here

Share Your Thoughts Here I exclude superhero, non-human (animated, vampire, dracula, monster, etc) and sole-survivor / trapped in a lone situation like Castaway or Life of Pi This is a re-creation of a poll that was published on May 02, 2015.
AFI's Unlisted Hollywood Male Legends
A few years ago, the American Film Institute unveiled its Top 25 actors of the 20th century, male legends who graced the silver screen during Hollywood Golden Age (movie debut in or before 1950). Have a look at this list and you'll notice some absences and not the least prestigious ones. Granted it was a difficult, if not impossible, task to satisfy all the fans who wished their favorite stars could be in, some non-inclusions are quite surprising and rather infuriating. As strange as it sounds, none of these 25 gentlemen made it in the Top 25 and there's no denial that they are icons from the classic era. Which of these actors' absence do you find the most (unpleasantly) surprising? After voting, you might discuss the list here (to stay faithful to the spirit of the original list, character actors or actors used to play supporting roles weren't included, sorry fans of Peter Lorre or Walter Brennan)
Biggest Movie Losers
These are movie characters who are perpetual losers, because their life, their circumstances or simply their environment is keeping them down. But they fight and some of them don't give up aiming for a normal condition. Which of these struggling, losing characters below is the most interesting to you? (The loser has to be from movies rated minimum 6.5/10 stars on IMDb. No animation allowed but characters can be either from real life or fictional. One exception: When the loser is so significant that he's worth standing next to the other losers below, the movie can be rated down to 5.5/10.) Discuss here. A special thank you to Dan Dassow, Jen & Djesika, who helped me so much correcting my typos.
Movie Magi: The Ultimate Gift

Also known as the Magi, the kings brought valuable gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus on the day this holiday commemorates. The following characters also gave gifts, not to the infant Jesus, but to their fellow human beings. Which character do you think gives the most valuable gift? Discuss here
