• Oh, where to start. Mia Farrow completely missed Daisy's character. She is normally a great actress, but she appeared way to shallow and didn't show Daisy's true personality, but this is just my opinion. I think everyone can agree a lot of the casting was down right terrible. Nick was way too old, and Tom did not look the part at all. All right, now to the "plot". WHAT DID THEY DO??? Anyone who has read the novel knows that F. Scott Fitzgerald did not mean for this to be a love story at all! The main theme of the novel was about the careless and arrogant attitude of the 1920's, not some lustful relationship!!! Also, why did they change the way Gatsby and Nick met??? This way was way too corny and unbelievable. The novel does a great job of showing how they met. I did appreciate how this movie did portray most of the symbolism that was in the book. This was about the only good aspect of the movie. Oh, and the score was absolutely horrid!!! I did like the music at the dances, but the music during the "dramatic moments" was absolutely terrible! If you are looking for a cheesy love story with no real purpose, this one is for you! (I am not discouraging the book, read that!)
