I absolutely loved the first few episodes of this show! Kathy Bates is phenomenal in everything she does and I was excited to start watching Matlock again. I'm not sure why this series has got such a high IMDb rating though. The side characters and their stories are weak and really doesn't do anything to drive any character development. Romantic interests are thrown in for the sake of throwing them in, side characters not getting along and turning into cliche versions of themselves. I'm not sure if it's the script or the acting but I find myself rolling my eyes more and more as the first season goes on. This show better end strong because I doubt I'll be watching season 2 (if they have one).
I hate being negative, but with so many new shows popping up everywhere (not including reboots), unless you have a really strong script/storyline/character development throughout the season, it's just hard to stand out.
