• .....courage which did not mean a thing to him...he ran away. (Jules Renard) The first line of the movie justifies the title "Courage Fuyons" (=Cheer up! let's escape!);Yves Robert's movie tells the story of Martin Belhomme ,who was born in a family of cowards and is no exception. This is very light story of men ,women ,lovers and when he 's involved in inextricable situations the hero makes off or pretends he is amnesiac .The conclusion is worthy of the French Theatre DE Boulevard :Eva (Catherine Deneuve) can have an affair with her husband behind her lover's back.Jean Rochefort is ideally cast as this yellow-bellied guy.Anyway ,most of Robert's heroes are men who cannot grow up ("Les Copains" ,"Un Elephant Ca Trompe Enormement and its sequel) ,or ,which gives better movies, men who remember the way they were as children (the marvelous "Gloire De Mon Père " and its sequel,"La Guerre Des Boutons" of which at least the novel was memories)
