Sometimes I forgot this movie was a documentary because it's a story, not an FAQ about a topic. We see the complexity in people--the vulnerability, the beauty, the dark--just as fictional writers try to create...but this is real. It's real life. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the film, as I'm not foodie, I barely know how to cook, and I couldn't be less interested in a cooking show. So I was surprised when I was drawn into the art of creating food because I didn't know that it's an art. And as a writer, I could relate to much of what the chef was saying about creating food because, for me, it's very similar to how I write. As I'm sure it's similar to artists of many mediums who'd feel the same way watching this film. This film has so many layers-I highly recommend it! (If you hadn't figured that out yet....)
