I enjoyed the first two seasons, tho I sort of agree with a lot of the criticism of other reviewersif this was STNG -After Starfleet with a private limo that's the enterprise , but it's not, it's Picard, about Picard and his fallible mistakes he's made thru his life and at his latter end of his life realises this and the regrets and his weaknesses that accompany these realisations. The step away from the Utopia characters for me a refreshing touch, they're Human and get affected with tragedy like the rest of us there are societies that are vicious that have fallen to social deprivation.
S3 they really have ploughed a budget into this giving it a really movie feel (makes up for the previous films), it's given an end back story to our favourite STNG peoples! And the return of the most evil arch nemesis ever to Grace any sci-fi series to boot - c'mon the simplicity, efficiency and emotionless traits of these barbarians are not the stuff of nightmares and even more terrifying a true reflection of our own actual history (NAZI's as a more recent example)
Picard isn't STNG, it's different & Brilliant in its own right giving us a different side to all our characters, the human side. The writers have thought out the characters well, even if at the start of the series some seem random, annoying even pointless but it turns out they're there for a purpose.
At present I'm at episode 9 of series 3, nearly all episodes have given nostalgic quiver up my spine at some point. I hope you enjoy all these series at much as I.
Interesting Fact - Michael Dorn (Worf) has a pilots license and owned a old U. S Jet fighter (not sure if he still does) while filming the original STNG series part of his contract was that he's was grounded until the end of filming each season........ just in case his flying skill were not that great😂🤣😂
