While working as Camera Operator for legendary French Directors of Photography Henri Alekan on A Strange Love Affair and Sacha Vierny on Zed and Two Naughts, I started working as a Feature Film Director of Photography. My first opportunity was the French Film Haute Mer for Argentinean director Eduardo Cozarinsky. Once settled in the USA, I photographed The Telephone [Whoopi Goldberg], Getting In for Doug Liman [The Bourne Identity.] An Evil Town directed by Richard Sears won Best Short Film @ the Film Festival of Cannes, France. The Kodak Achievement Award for Best Cinematography for Marc Chiat's Every Dog Has Its Day came next. While primarily focusing on commercials [Google, Nike, Cadillac] and Music Videos [Britney Spears, Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Back Street Boys, Aaliyah ] during the '90 I have completed several films with director Julie Dash [Daughters of the Dust] including The Rosa Parks Story for which she received a DGA best direction nomination. Tyler Perry's Diary of A Mad Black Woman was my only # 1 Box Office Hit. Make It Happen reunited me with director Darren Grant [Diary Of A Mad Black Woman.] Besides primarily photographing commercials globally, I have ventured into international productions such as Jellyfish in the Moon in Lithuania, Het Bestand for Dutch TV, and several Museum Installations. I make my home in New York City and consider myself local in Los Angeles, CA, and Rome, Italy.- Actor

Joshua Richard van 't Hoff (1987) is an independent film director and producer from the Netherlands, who is also active as a scenarist, cinematographer, editor and actor. Born and raised in the city of Haarlem, filmmaking was early in his life; by bringing a video camera to high school he wanted to capture moments and portray individuals, by making videos with his siblings or friends he wanted to entertain. He discovered all stages of film production during a project for his higher education in journalism at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, which made him realize that this art would become both his passion as well as his profession.
When a Haarlem cinema from 1915 was about to close, Van 't Hoff got inspired to make his first short film: Cinema Palace (2011). In the same year, he started his 6-month internship as a camera operator at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam for the Dutch television show De toegift vanuit Carré (2011). Starting to work as a freelance filmmaker after successfully finishing his internship, he remained active at the theatre for two more years while continuing to produce short films such as the award-winning Ruysdael (2012) - developing himself both artistically and commercially.
Waarheid & privacy in het Nationaal Archief (2015), Van 't Hoff's first documentary film with which he graduated from university, was broadcast on Dutch television and screened in the Netherlands and Israel. Since then, he has developed a stronger focus on his artistic side: his short films A Divided Whole (2018), Accelerate (2018) and The Path of the Greys (2018) were completed in the same year and have been screened and awarded at international film festivals. Later, he completed his documentary films Focus on Belarus (2020) and Volledig portret gezocht van Markéta Ledererová (2023). Currently, he is working on a documentary film about the Nazi German extermination camp Sobibór and several short films.- Actress
