With his slicked back hair and thin moustache Erik Rhodes arrived in Hollywood to recreate his stage role of Rudolfo Tonetti (which he had performed first on Broadway and then in London, 1932-1933) for the filming of The Gay Divorcee (1934), starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Contrary to his screen image, Erik was born in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma where he won a scholarship to study acting in New York. He made his theatrical debut, delivering eight lines, in the 1928 play 'A Most Immoral Lady', under his birth name Ernest (sometimes spelled Earnest) Sharpe. Because of his good baritone voice, he was next cast in two musicals. An expert mimicker of accents and dialects, he came to specialise in films as the perennial hyperactive continental charmer. In his second notable screen outing, Top Hat (1935), he played flamboyant dressmaker Alberto Beddini, famously declaring to Ginger Rogers "All my life I have promised my dresses I'd take them to Italy...and you must be in them". There were other good parts, particularly in the comedy A Night at the Ritz (1935) as would-be master chef Leopold Jaynos. Andre Sennwald's review in The New York Times (May 16,1935) commented on Erik's performance "as the psychopath with a yearning for culinary immortality, he gives 'A Night at the Ritz' its air of polite lunacy and helps to wring laughter out of a featherweight enterprise".
Erik Rhodes made films at RKO until 1937, more often than not as excitable Europeans (Henri Saffron in Woman Chases Man (1937), Frank Rochet in Old Man Rhythm (1935), Tony Bandini in Criminal Lawyer (1937) and, not forgetting, Spaghetti Nadzio in Music for Madame (1937)). By the end of the decade, his screen career had run its course. After his wartime service with U.S. Air Force Intelligence, he went back to Broadway for a lengthy spell in 'Can Can' as a Parisian bon vivant.- Actor

- Pert blonde actress Marjorie Steele was in films for a very short time, making only four in all. She was born in Reno, Nevada on August 27, 1930 in a log cabin built by her father, a contractor. Her mother was part Russian and Swedish while her father came from German and Sioux Indian parentage. Marjorie's family moved to San Francisco when she was 9. It was here that she took an interest in acting while still young. She started with acting lessons and eventually won a scholarship to the Actors Lab in Hollywood.
To support herself in the early days, she worked as a cigarette girl at Ciro's, L.A.'s top nightclub. In what was to become a Cinderella story, the working teenager attracted the attention of multimillionaire Huntington Hartford. Smitten, Hartford not only signed her to a contract with a motion picture company he owned, he married her in 1949--shortly after her nineteenth birthday. She built up her reputation on stage and appeared in two films produced by her husband: Hello Out There (1949) and Face to Face (1952).
Her other two "B" films were Tough Assignment (1949) and No Escape (1953). Marjorie scored well in theater assignments, notably as the title role in "Sabrina Fair" in 1954, which played in London, and on Broadway when she took over the role of Maggie the Cat from Barbara Bel Geddes in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Shortly after this, she suddenly lost interest in her career and decided to retire and raise a family.
She married British actor Dudley Sutton following her 1961 divorce to Hartford, with whom she had two children,, but the marriage lasted only a few years. Her daughter by this marriage predeceased her mother, dying of a drug overdose at age 28. Steele's third husband was American-born Irish author Major Constantine Robert Louis Lee-Dillon FitzGibbon, who wrote "When the Kissing Had to Stop" and "The Irish in Ireland," and was the biographer of friend Dylan Thomas. Together the couple wrote "Teddy in the Tree." He died in 1983 from cancer and she never remarried.
Living in Ireland, Marjorie occupied her later years with painting and sculpting and has been commissioned for her work. She died on January 19, 2018 in Dublin. - Additional Crew

A wholesome beauty with comedic appeal, Dawn Elberta Wells was born on October 18, 1938 in Reno, Nevada. Wells' childhood was a happy and healthy one. She and her mother grew their own fruits and vegetables in their gardens and Dawn rode horses. In her high school years, she was the class treasurer, President of the debate team and an honor roll student. Dawn was on her way to becoming a ballerina, but bad knees prevented her from realizing the dream. She was Miss Nevada in 1959 and went on to the 1960 Miss America Pageant. Dawn had wanted to be a doctor, and enrolled in the elite Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri to study medicine, but then she discovered the Drama Club. She then transferred to the University of Washington, which was known for their Theatre Department, and she graduated with a Degree in Theatre.
Dawn moved to Hollywood and was cast as Mary Ann Summers on CBS's Gilligan's Island (1964). The rest is history. However, there was much more to Dawn than her simple Mary Ann character. Wells refused to be an unemployed actor after the show ended and was never out of work since the show decades ago. She performed in over 66 theatrical productions, including the National Touring Company of "They're Playing Our Song!" She did countless voice-overs, commercials and talk shows. She worked for the Australian news show "Midday" and interviewed such talents as Julia Roberts, Eddie Murphy and Tom Hanks, to name a few. Dawn has also had great success as a producer and has a number of television movies to her credit. After years of touring and performing in dramas, comedies, and musical theatre, Dawn slowed down a little. In 1998, she founded the Dawn Wells' Film Actors Boot Camp in Driggs, Idaho. The camp is for the already trained actor looking to make the transition from the amateur to the professional actor.
Wells managed the camp for many years. She has been in a popular commercial for Western Union, capitalizing on her character Mary Ann Summers. In 2003, Dawn did tours of the plays "Love Letters" with Adam West and Eve Ensler's Award Winning "The Vagina Monologues." In early 2004, Dawn established and founded The Spud Film Institute in Idaho and Wyoming, and held the first ever Spud Drive in Film and Music Festival in the summer of 2004. She was also the artistic director of the festival. If that is not enough, Ms. Wells also had her own clothing line for the physically challenged called "Wishing Wells Collections" and she recently launched her own skin care line, Classic Beauty. Dawn Wells continued to contribute to the business she loved so much and constantly gave back to the acting community. She mentored young actors and traveled to colleges all across the United States to teach Master Classes. She served as Artist in Residence at several Universities. Dawn was in constant demand for personal appearances and speaking engagements, yet never forgot to give back to the Artistic community. She will surely be remembered for all her good work. Wells passed away on December 30, 2020 at age 82. You can get information about all of Dawn's organizations at her website, dawn-wells.com.- Director

In some ways, the seemingly impossible dream of acting was made for someone as tenacious as Dee Christian, a.k.a. "Deke" Anderson. In high school, at a mere 138 pounds, he was an All State Center for the Reno High Huskies. And at only 19, he owned and operated the largest bodybuilding gym in northern Nevada, where he trained to become a 4 time State Champion body builder and also happened to employ Kane Hodder, a.k.a. "Jason" of "Friday the 13th" fame. Deke's love for acting was born at the Nevada Opera Guild, where he performed in many musicals. Not long after he threw Kevin Costner's character off of a bridge in Reno in the feature "Stacy's Knights," he headed to Hollywood. It was 1982; in Westwood, he founded, owned and operated Deke's Muscled Cabs, a pedi-cab business which paid his bills in the beginning. He was Taft-Hartlied into SAG on his first L.A. job. For 40 plus years following that timely Taft Hartley, Deke has had a wonderful career both in front of and behind the camera. Deke directed and field produced 63 episodes of "Real Stories of the Highway Patrol" across and throughout 8 of our great states. He thus developed a deep "nuts and bolts" sense of production needs, and is therefore as reliable as they come as an actor. And Deke is also incredibly nuanced in his acting range, and his reels show it - they reflect a wonderfully diverse cast of characters over many years - Dads, Executives, psychos, Satan, goofballs and more! Deke has also been privileged to be a part of truly iconic TV/Film moments. He is a Tiny Ash tormenting good friend Bruce Campbell in Sam Raimi's cult classic "Army of Darkness," as well as Lilith's bachelor party beefcake stripper love interest "Randy" on "Cheers," and the spoiled arrogant rich suitor striking out with Madonna in her "Material Girl" music video. And he was cast as a Series Regular in what was reportedly then the most expensive CBS TV pilot ever shot! His wealth of experience makes Deke not only an amazing actor, but perhaps more importantly, an amazing acting instructor. Deke has loved mentoring his students in one of the most prominent acting havens in Hollywood and the Southeast region, Next Level Acting Studios. Deke resides in Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia, depending on where he is currently shooting, but Texas with his wife, daughter and Schnauzer is where he calls home.- Dan Plater was born on 22 July 1960 in Reno, Nevada, USA. Tall and imposing, Nevada native Chris Browning initially intended to be a screenwriter but enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles without realizing it was a school for actors only. Taking to the craft, Browning received one of his first parts in a Dr. Pepper commercial before spending the 1990s working in television. While continuously battling substance abuse, Browning's roles included a regular part in the short-lived baseball sitcom Hardball (1994) and a seven-episode guest appearance on LL Cool J's first show In the House (1995). Browning's problems with addiction led to a period of homelessness before finding sobriety in Taos, New Mexico. Five years of inactivity ended when Browning responded to a call for extras for the Western mini-series Into the West (2005). During his comeback, Browning moved away from televised comedy and into big-screen action. A small part as a deputy sheriff in 3:10 to Yuma (2007) helped raise Browning's profile, as well as pairing him for the first time with popular actor Christian Bale. The two teamed up again for the fourth installment in the "Terminator" science-fiction series, Terminator Salvation (2009). Browning has continued working steadily, playing small parts in major action films like Cowboys & Aliens (2011) while displaying his versatility in independent productions including Felon (2008), in which he played a Neo-Nazi prisoner.- Jennifer Harman was born on 29 November 1964 in Reno, Nevada, USA.
