- In this black comedy scene, the bottom falls out of a coffin, the corpse tumble out, and is jolted back to life. Short sequences like this, as well as street scenes and dancing geisha girls were the main subjects of early Nippon cinema, pioneered by Shiro Asano and Shibata Tsunekichi from 1897 onwards. In creating dramatic, scenes, film-makers naturally chose the most striking or bizarre. Another undocumented film, recalled by cameraman Shiro Asano.

- 'Armed Robber Shimizu Sadakicchi' is considered Japan's debut film and came on the heels of the country obtaining its first film camera. It famously was only a couple of minutes' long as its film reel was only seventy feet long. It featured who is considered to be Japan's first film actor Unpei Yokoyama who was one of two actors in the film. It features one scene where a robber is apprehended by the police.
- Based in the kabuki dance scene Ninin Dojoji ("Two Virgins at Dojo Temple"), first performed in 1835 under the title Wake Fuatsu Ninin Dojoji, and based on the legend of Kiyo-hime, the vengeful princess who transformed into a snake. Nihon Sossen Katsudo Shashin-kai was founded by Koyo Kamada.
