- A household gardener is outside watering the garden. Unknown to him, the son of another servant sneaks up behind him and steps on the hose, stopping the flow of water. The befuddled gardener doesn't know what happened to the water flow, putting the hose nozzle up to his face to investigate. The boy then steps off the hose, resulting in the gardener getting sprayed in the face with water. The boy ends up getting his comeuppance.
- A group of ten infant girls are on a playground. They are in pairs, matched in height. They are doing an organized dance. Each pair twirls simultaneously, while all five pairs rotate in a circular sequence. They often stop their circular rotation so that each pair can perform the same maneuver as the other four simultaneously.
- Two men are sitting at a card table in the middle of a garden, drinking and playing cards, while the household gardener is in the background watering the garden with a hose. The two men begin to argue about the card game, leading to a physical altercation. Another man enters the picture, he figuring the best way to stop the fight is for the gardener to turn the hose onto them.

He is then visited on set by another man, who makes a smudge on the drawing surface. The illustrator turns that smudge into a sketch of that visiting man. And finally, he draws a drinking glass, a bottle of milk and a bottle of seltzer which take on lives of their own.
- Mabel and her sweetheart go to the beach and play a trick on the boyfriend's father.
- An artist draws a dog who comes to life and eats a plate of sausages.
- A jealous husband becomes angered by what he feels are the inappropriate advances of an effeminate shoe clerk toward his wife. The clerk initially tries to avoid any conflict but eventually defends himself.
- The Police Chief is tracking a band of four desperadoes who vow revenge by blowing up his house. The desperadoes manage to kidnap one of the Chief's hapless constables--the boyfriend of the Chief's baby's nursemaid--by kidnapping the constable and the baby. They force the constable to plant the bomb while they hold the baby hostage. The constable is able to enter the house and plant the note of the impending bomb. Mayhem ensues as the Chief, his wife, the nursemaid, and the other constables search the house for the bomb, and try to find out where the baby is.
- 'Fatty' is looking forward to attending a formal occasion. But in order to go, he has to be properly dressed, and he encounters unexpected difficulties in getting himself ready.
- The Stoneman family finds its friendship with the Camerons affected by the Civil War, both fighting in opposite armies. The development of the war in their lives plays through to Lincoln's assassination and the birth of the Ku Klux Klan.
- Since his in-laws are coming for dinner, Mr. Walrus is to buy a turkey. Instead, he loses the money on a raffle, meaning no money for the turkey. Meanwhile, Mr. Walrus' neighbor, Mr. Spegle, takes a chance on the raffle and loses, but cheats his competitor, a foreigner, from the prize, which is a turkey. Because of the wrath he is receiving from Mrs. Walrus for no turkey, Mr. Walrus goes to any length to get a bird for dinner. So when Mr. Walrus sees that Mr. Spegle has roasted a turkey for dinner, he can't resist the opportunity to steal it. But some unexpected dinner guests and the wrath of the foreigner end up making the dinner party a commotion filled one for all.
- The disgraceful Reggie Gussle spends a day at the park with his hated wife while trying to steal a lovely girl from her boyfriend.
- Hearing her sweetly playing the piano, a man, stopping to listen and sing along, falls in love with the young piano playing woman, which does not sit well with her boyfriend. The man believes he can win the girl's heart, and attempts to do so using a stolen organ and monkey from an organ grinder. This leads to several altercations between the man and the boyfriend. But the angry bomb-happy organ grinder and the escaped monkey may add some extra confusion to the proceedings.
- A judge and his frivolous wife are celebrating their second wedding anniversary. The wife insists he buy her a gift. He goes out and buys her a necklace and pendant, which he promptly loses. Its finder is the judge's district attorney, who thinks he can give it to the girl he is trying to woo, namely the judge's wife. An unemployed young man happens to have what was the discarded jewelry case, and the judge seeing it in his possession believes the unemployed man stole the necklace and pendant. The police manage to capture the unemployed man who is brought to trial. But when the district attorney, who is trying the case, sees for what the unemployed man is charged, mayhem ensues as the judge, district attorney and unemployed man work at cross purposes to get what they each want. An unexpected source may see that justice is eventually served.
- After a dastardly villain steals milk from a baby, he tries to put the heroine through a laundry press.
- Mr. Gussle takes Mrs. Gussle to the department store to do some shopping. While Mrs. Gussle goes about her shopping errands, Mr. Gussle can't help but cause havoc for the store employees and other customers, most specifically one young unwitting female customer who is at the embarrassing end of one of his pranks. But the nature of their shopping trip changes when Mr. Gussle spies a young woman and her father in the shoe department. Mr. Gussle does whatever he can to attract the attention of the young woman, to whom he is attracted, while steering clear of her father and Mrs. Gussle. But more mayhem ensues in the process.
- On Al Falfa's not so real farm, he is able to grow such delicacies as a pitcher of beer and an alcoholic cocktail. He feeds the cocktail to his willing cow, Clara. But that drink makes her go a little wild, she who starts to chase Al Falfa through his vast and geographically diverse property. But since his farm isn't really real, Al Falfa can use some interesting techniques to get away from Clara.
- An inventor and his accomplice plan to rob a ship carrying gold bullion by using a submarine. A waiter overhears their plans, buys himself an admiral's uniform, tricks his way into command of the sub and plots to take the ship himself.
- Mickael GoUpSkey, a foreign agent, is aboard a train en route to purchase planes for his country's military. A.C. Walrus, an agent for a rival country, is also aboard that same train and is ordered by his government to stop GoUpSkey from making that purchase at whatever cost. National security takes a back seat for Walrus when he meets and pursues a beautiful young woman on the train, she to who the foreign agent is also attracted. Walrus eventually learns that she is the daughter of the plane manufacturer and an aviatrix in her own right. Mayhem ensues when Walrus is able to test fly the demonstration plane, with GoUpSkey in hot pursuit. But also in pursuit are the young woman her aviator boyfriend and the police, the latter who are dealing with the destruction caused by the Walrus/GoUpSkey battle.
- Jim, the apple of his mother's eyes, is the big-hearted galoot of a man and is sheriff of his small town. He is sweet on Nell, who he has known all his life. Just as he is about to propose to her, he finds out that he has missed his opportunity as Diamond Dan, a big city slicker, has already proposed to her, to which she's accepted. Regardless, she has always loved Jim more as a brother. But when Jim finds out that Diamond Dan isn't as upstanding as he appears, Jim has to decide whether to let Diamond Dan go as Nell loves him, or arrest Diamond Dan and risk losing Nell's friendship. If the former, Jim just hopes that Diamond Dan will neither harm Nell and/or Nell can figure out for herself that he's not the man for her, but rather a big galoot who has always loved her and will always care for her is.
- Several people have decided to go swimming at the swimming pool at Coney Island. They include a young woman with a strong armed boyfriend, and another young woman accompanied to the park by her overprotective parents. Complications begin when the second young woman begins cavorting with the assistant lifeguard, of who her father does not approve. In trying to get the assistant lifeguard to leave his daughter alone, the father inadvertently gets involved with the second young woman, which brings her strong armed boyfriend into the picture.

- A young woman works as a cook as the sole means of support for herself and her husband, who, because of the nature of his profession, only works one day a year. She is unaware that her wealthy, aging and gout-ridden employer, Phillip Nobrains, has left her everything in his will. Nobrains' crooked butler, Reginald Scuttle, does learn about the will. To get Nobrains' money, Scuttle plans on getting rid of both Nobrains and the girl's husband so that he can enter into what only he would know is a fake marriage with her, she who would become an heiress. To get rid of Nobrains, Scuttle misinforms him of the fact that some submarine pirates will be targeting his upcoming cruise vacation. For the husband, Scuttle manages to get him a job as a cabin boy on the cruise. Scuttle's scheme goes according to plan, until... which leads to mayhem for all concerned.
- Dummy inventor Samuel Tinker has just developed a new life-sized mechanical dummy. He and his partner, Peter Clay, modeled the dummy after a janitor in their building. While the inventor's daughter is in love and engaged to Clay, the janitor pines for the daughter. A misunderstanding breaks up the partnership, and Tinker forbids his daughter from marrying his now ex-partner. But the daughter hopes a possible lucrative purchase of the dummy from a vaudeville company will be the impetus for her father and Clay to mend their differences, and for them again to be married. The janitor, who sees this rift as an opportunity, hatches his own plan to be near the one he loves, the plan which involves him taking the place of the dummy. Not wanting to blow his cover, the janitor keeps on masquerading as the dummy even after the sale to the vaudeville company. A life-like dummy with a mind of his own on the loose has its own consequences.
- Bobby Bumps is getting ready for school with the help from among others his faithful dog, Fido. Bobby is the bane of his teacher's existence since he often daydreams, today about playing baseball with Fido, rather than focus on his schoolwork. Even during recess, Bobby is the cause of an incident which in turn results in the teacher having problems getting the students back into class following the recess break. But that break ends up being even longer because of Bobby and what happens with his teacher.

- The young couple have decided to marry and it is time to ask the father for the hand of his daughter. Problem is, the father does not want to give the daughter away. So every time he goes to the office to ask the father, he is tossed out. He is ejected over and over, by different methods, while the girl waits and waits.
- Mutt and Jeff own and operate their own firehouse. Mutt believes where there's smoke, there's fire, which gets them into an early scrape. But they are called to an actual fire of a several storied residential building. A frantic woman asks them to save her baby who is located on the top floor of the burning building. Their first problem is how to get up to the top floor, which Jeff inadvertently figures out how to do. But other distractions plus trying to find the baby through the thick smoke may be obstacles in achieving their mission. But something that the woman doesn't tell them may be the biggest hurdle.

- Young playwright spends his last cent to pay the rent of struggling actress in a theatrical boarding house. Pursuing her, he winds up at a gambling club, where he wins big, just before a police raid.
- After a wild bachelor party, our hero finds himself aboard a sailing vessel where he encounters numerous adventures. In a dream sequence, he fantasizes that the ship is seized by a band of female pirates.
- A penniless young man tries to save an heiress from kidnappers and help her secure her inheritance.
- An American book salesman (Lloyd) is persuaded to go to the kingdom of Thermosa to impersonate the Prince. He is greeted by a peasants' revolt before the real prince shows up to claim his throne and princess. The revolution succeeds and the American is elected president of the new republic.

- After numerous failed attempts to commit suicide, our hero (Lloyd) runs into a lawyer who is looking for a stooge to stand in as a groom in order to secure an inheritance for his client (Davis). The inheritance is a house, which her scheming uncle "haunts" so that he can scare them off and claim the property.
- The day starts off as any normal day on Roach's farm, where Teddy, the farmhouse dog, is doing more productive work than everyone else combined. But the day changes when Roach's farmhand sees an opportunity to be the knight in shining armor to Louise, Roach's daughter, who he wants to marry. Roach, however will not have his daughter marry a lowly farmhand, although Louise loves the farmhand. It's also rent day, and their landlord - the mortgage holder of the farm - is making his rounds to collect the moneys. He uses his position of power to garner sexual favors from women in return for non-eviction. Having never met Louise, the landlord immediately falls in love with her, who he too wants to marry. Louise hatches a plan to throw off the landlord's unwanted advances. That plan has unintended consequences. Add to the mix Louise's fear of mice, the landlord intercepting an important letter to Roach, a collar salesman and his missing infant son, and it becomes unclear who Roach will allow marry his daughter and if she will get married at all.
