The dance is a ritual that creates and then dissolves a magical imaginary event which re-names Los Angeles as The City of Our Lady Queen of the Angels. All human ritual is religion in action, and this dance performed to spoken word, violin, cello, piano and percussion personifies a female Los Angeles, and names this city as her place. The female dancer represents a synthesis of the Mother of all Mankind, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Queen of the Angels, Demeter, Cybele, Isis, the Earth Mother, and the Mother Earth. The three male dancers are an amalgamation of Archangels including Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Israfel, Ariel, Zadkiel, and Azrael.
