| A Busy Film
The grocery clerk (Ford Sterling)'s sympathies are aroused by the sight of hard-working Mrs. Brown (an uncredited actress), whose shiftless husband sits around and smokes, and spends his time at the saloon.

This is a very busy film, which I mean neither as a compliment nor a critique, but simply an observation. In under ten minutes, we not only have the "romance", but we have an entire subplot of kidnapping and conspiracy and explosives... this is a lot of stuff in a small amount of time.

Ford Sterling makes a good lead. Other than Sennett himself, Sterling was easily Sennett's best actor in the earliest days, at least until Chaplin came along.
