  • "On Trial" was inspired by the moving picture play, "On the Stroke of Twelve" shows a trial for murder and gives the history of the crime, in much the same way as the spoken drama. It is frank melodrama, but melodrama of the better kind, human and compelling, seizing the attention at the start and retaining it to the end. Produced with liberality and intelligence. Gertrude McCoy and Bigelow Cooper have the leading roles. The entire cast, which also includes Richard Tucker and John Sturgeon, does excellent work.
