This was the film which opened the famous Pantages Theatre at Hollywood and Vine.
Although included among the more than 700 features in the original 1956 MGM television package, this one's age and obscurity destined it for only a handful of presentations, in less predominant markets, among them Wednesday 22 June 1960 on KYW (Channel 3) in Cleveland, Ohio, and Sunday 24 July 1960 on KPHO (Channel 5) in Phoenix, Arizona. Today's vintage film enthusiasts have it much better, with an occasional welcome showing on Turner Classic Movies, and its original finale now restored in 2-strip Technicolor.
The 2-strip Technicolor finale, which runs 608 feet, or about 7 minutes, includes rare color footage of Marion Davies.
Newsreel footage survives that shows Marion Davies filming the "Tell Me, Pretty Maiden" number with guests on the set Louis B. Mayer, Cecil B. DeMille, Will H. Hays, Calvin Coolidge, and Mary Pickford in attendance. Miss Davies also greets and chats with the guests.
